Walnut Lodge 2019 Summer Yoga Intensives 

 

Week 1: June 3 - 7

10:30 – 11:30 AM Chair Yoga Intensive (Monday – Thursday) We will focus each day on movements for different parts of the body. Monday: hands and arms, Tuesday: shoulders, Wednesday: spine, pelvis, Thursday: feet and legs. Take the whole series or sign up for individual days.

5:45 – 7:15 PM Foundations

Interested in starting a yoga practice? Are you recovering from an injury, surgery, movement issues you want to resolve? Maybe you just want to brush up on the “foundations” of the discipline because you have been away from it for a while. If you said “yes” to any of those questions...this class is for you!

From the “Foundation” up, this class will focus on the basics of yogic breathing, alignment, core integration and balance. Start your practice with the tools that will prevent injury and promote balance. “Baoding Ball” work included...

7:15 – 9:15 pm Ashtanga Primary Series

Wondering whether or not this practice is for you? Wondering if you are capable of doing it? Well wonder no more...this class IS for you! You can't “master” it in a week. You can barely learn the sequence in a week, so what you are really going to do this week is learn to practice. The Primary Series is a practice that can change with you and supports your well being on your journey forward.

It is a PHYSICAL THERAPY that you take with you.....practice is forever. Modifications for physical issues will be given. There is no test at the end.

Week 2: June 10 – 14

5:45 – 7:10 PM Positions, Placement and Power..Beginning Ballet: AGES 11 – 90  Ballet, it's not just a beautiful art form whose popularity is waning...it is a system for training the body and mind to work in concert with one another to create a HUMAN being capable of understanding and expressing the “human condition”.

It is the ULTIMATE BODY/MIND training system. Young people need it for developing control. Adults need for keeping control....mental acuity, flexibility, strength, balance and bone mass.

This workshop is for BEGINNERS....so if you have always wanted to learn ballet, this is your chance. This workshop is also for thoseIf you that have ABSENT for a long time and want a way back. Come and stand at the barre....drink in the beauty that is classical music and find yourself at home.

7:15 – 9:15 PM Abbey's Own...the Walnut Lodge Yoga Embedded Pranayama Series
There are a lot of things that make my series different, special...interesting..old. I have been working on and tweaking these series for over 30 years. Join me this week we will dissect the embedded pranayama sequences...known affectionately known as “Cats”, “Monday”, “Wednesday” and “Friday”.

These sequences do not address the entire body as does the “Ashtanga Primary Series”, they are not “workouts”....they are “WORK-INS”. Come prepared to breathe...physically embody that breath and use it to experience yourself in an “expanded format”, getting as close to a movement meditation as you can!

Week 3: June 17 – 21

10:30 – 12:00 Mixed Level Ballet. (Monday - Thursday) This IS NOT for beginners....but it could be for those of you that have been away from the discipline for a while....Everyone is welcome.

12:00 – 1:00 Pointe (Monday - Thursday) This will be beginning work.

1:00 – 2:00 Choreography.... A ballet piece....

11:00 – 2:00 Paddle Board Yoga Intensive....OUTSIDE..in a LAKE...not a POOL (Tuesday - or – Thursday) Join Dan Whirl...resident Jedi Master.....for a really fun 3 hours and learn all over again just how much fun it is to FALL!!!! Paddle Board paddling techniques and yoga will be included in this beginning level 3 hour workshop.

Class Prices

  1. YOGA: 1 intensive for $75.; 2 for $125.; 3 for $150...drop in $20.

  2. BALLET: 1 for $50.; 2 for $100......drop in $20.

  3. CHAIR: $25./week....drop in $10.

  4. PADDLE BOARD:  $25./ one 3 hour session....limit: 6 students per session
